Cycle Sri Lanka Coast to Coast 7 Days / 6 Nights
Trip Profile:
Experience Sri Lanka’s culture and religion with visits to the World Heritage city of Kandy, the ancient Dambulla Cave temple, cycling through the Central Highland Rain Forest and the coastal city of Trincomalee. Drink the finest Ceylon Tea at the Thalawakelle Tea Estate and enjoy the stunning waterfalls. Celebrate our tour end at the coatal town overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Colombo
Arrive in Colombo International Airport. Welcome by our guide and transfer to the hotel. Bike fitting and tour briefing. Welcome dinner and overnight in Colombo.
Day 2: Colombo - Kithulgala (87km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, we cycle to Ruwanwella, we start with a more flat route from the coastal capital Colombo toward the central highland. We stop for lunch in Runwanwella around km60. After lunch we cycle on higher elevation to 100 feet.
We cycle follow the Kelani Kanga River. We stay overnight on the bank of the river where the film "The Bridge on The River Kwai" was shooting.
Day 3: Kithulgala - Nuwara Eliya (59km)
Breakfast at the hotel. We trasfer 35km to Kotagala to avoid the busy road. We start our cycling with more challenge of the hills. We cycle to Talawakelle Tea Estates where we make the water stop for a cup of the finest Ceylon Tea. Continue cycling to enjoy the scenery of the rain forest. We cycle to Watagoda and climb the last section of the road 20km to our hotel in Nuwara Eliya. Dinner and overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 4: Nuwara Eliya - Kandy (100km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we cycle to the World Heritage town of Kandy.
First, we cycle pass Victoria Park, and the route lead us to Piduruthalagala Forest Reserve. We stop for lunch in Delpitiya over 50km from Nuwara Eliya. After lunch, we cycle to Galaha for our last water stop. Enjoy cycling the last 20km back road from Galaha to Kandy. Dinner and overnight in Kandy.
Day 5: Kandy - Habarana (85km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, we cycle to visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, Sri Dalada Veediya. The temple is located in the Royal Palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, where the relic of the tooth of the Buddha is housed. After the visit, we cycle to Wattegama where make water stop. Another highlight of the day is the famous Damulla Cave Temple. After the visit, we transfer the last part 25km to Habaran. Dinner and overnight in Habarana.
Day 6: Habarana - Trincomalee (95km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, we cycle on a more flat routes. We cycle to Kantale reservoi and follow the scenery of the reservoir. Then we cycle along the Somawathie Chaitiya Suanctuary and we stop for lunch. Afternoon, we cycle into the coastal city of Trincomalee. The city is overlooking Indian Ocean. Time to chill out and enjoy farewell dinner. Overnight in Trincomalee.
Day 7: Triconmalee - Colombo
Breakfast at the hotel. Free until transfer to Colombo. Tour Ends.
