THAILAND CYCLING TOUR CHIANG RAI TO LUANG PRABANG 08 DAYS / 07 NIGHTS

Trip Profile:

This cycling holiday from Chiang Rai, northern Thailand. Travler can take domestic flight from Bangkok to Chiang Rai. Then cycle through the less visited part of Thailand to learn about the northern culture Hmong minority of Thailand and Laos. While cycling immerse in the natural beauty of some of the best scenery in rural area and it is only possible to visit by bike. The routes start with more relatively flat most of the way with only a bit of climb when coming closer to Laos border. It is a best place to experience REAL Thais & Laos culture, food, nature and more. Traveler can get Laos visa on arrival and costs USD35 per person.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Bangkok-Chiang Rai
Arrive in Chiang Rai. Transfer to the hotel for check in. Bike fitting and tour briefing. Dinner and overnight in Chiang Rai. (D)

Day 2: Chaing Rai – Chiang Khong (79km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we cycle to Wiangchai, then Phaya Mengrai. We stop for lunch to enjoy local Thais food. After lunch, we cycle all the way until Chiang Khong. (B,L,D)

Day 3: Chiang Khong - Pak Beng (Boat Cruise)
After breakfast, we take the boat crossing the Mekong River. Then we cross the border. It is now possible to get Laos visa on arrival for mostly USD35 per person. Please take 1 photo passport size for the visa. Please inform us your nationality for more information about the visa as the price is a varriable. After arrive in the small town of Pak Beng, we do our bike fitting. Dinner and overnight in Pak Beng. (B,L,D)

Day 4: Pak Beng to Oudomxai (80km)
Breakfast in Pak Beng before setting off our bike on the first day of cycling. It is our best to cycle today and we leave the Mekong River in the back drop. As we cycle far from the Mekong River, we enjoy the landscape and some small minority villages where they grow corn and rice. We should be able to do 50km by lunch time. After lunch we continue to cycle the last 30km before transferring to Udomxai. Dinner and overnight in Oudomxai. (B,L,D) 
 
Day 5: Oudomxai to Pak Mong (60km)

After breakfast, we fill in the water and then do a bit of excercise to warm up our musscles. We beging to cycle with a tough climb with hill after hill but the scenery is magnificient. Then take a break to enjoy snack, fresh fruits and drinks to get energy before continuing to cycle to Pak Mong. Dinner and overnight in Pak Mong. (B,L,D)

Day 6: Pak Mong to LuangPrabang (87km)
Today is our longest bike ride. Early morning, we cycle on the main road passing Ban Thabu. Then we cycle along Nam Ou river. It is an interesting to cycle along the river through villages to enjoy the rural lives. Enjoy picnic lunch on the river bank and take a power nap before heading to Pak Ou.  It has the famous tourist attraction, Pak Ou caves. The end of the day, we finally arrive at Luang Prabang, the World Heritage town. Dinner and overnight in Luang Prabang. 

Day 7: Luang Prabang (Kuang Sii Waterfall) 62km
After a restful day we hit the bikes for a ride to the stunning Kuang Sii Waterfall.The ride is along a small road alongside the Mekong River passing through small villages, rice fields and forest. At the waterfall enjoy a swim, picnic lunch and a visit to the tiger and bear rescue centre before riding back to Luang Prabang. (B,L)

Day 8: Luang Prabang Departure
Breakfast at the hotel. Free until transfer to the airport for departure flight.
