The main objectve of this trip is to respond to the increasing overland crossing from Thailand to Cambodia at Aranyaprathet border. The border is called Poi Pet in Cambodian. The road from Bangkok to the Cambodian border is of course good. Recently, Cambodia has got a new good road from the Poi Pet border to Siem Reap (Angkor Wat). Now it taks only two hours from the Poi Pet border to Siem Reap (Angkor Wat) for 153km.
The second objective of this trip is to promote overland crossing travelling by road from Bangkok to Angkor Wat which can benefit the local people in both country to provide job for the drivers in Thailand and Cambodia. In Thailand, the driving rule is on the left hand side and in Cambodia it is on the right hand side. Therefore we have to change the car or van at the border.
You can get Cambodian visa at the border for USD30 per person. Please take 1 photo passport size for the visa. The immigration process on each side take about 15minutes. But most of time, there are crowded tourists to cross the border each day. So to help saving the time, please consider to apply for Cambodia e-visa online through Cambodia Ministry of Foreign Affairs website: https://www.evisa.gov.kh/
Another objective of this trip is to help improving the poor services of the long cheap journey by bus which tourists normally can get the ticket at Khao San road in Bangkok. They normally have many stops for both sides in Thailand and Cambodia. In the past it was part of the 'scam' when the road in Cambodia was still bad and they had this reason to delay the bus journey to arrive in Siem Reap at night time and then just take the tourists to the guesthouses wherever offered them commissions.
