This Laos Southern Dirt Bike starts in Pakse, the southern city of Champasak province riding down to visit the ancient temple of Wat Phu, 4 Thousand Islands to see the endangered Irrawady Dolphin, Xe Pian Biodiversity Reserve. Then ride along the Ho Chi Minh trail on Boleavan Plateu to Sekong. The tour finishes in Pakse.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive Pakse
Arrive Pakse, the southern city of Laos. Welcome and transfer to Pakse Hotel for check in: http://www.hotelpakse.com/ Bike fitting and tour briefing. Overnight in Pakse.
Day 2: Wat Phou & 4 Thousand Islands
After breakfast, we ride to catch the ferry at Ban Mueung crossing the Mekong River. Continue to ride to visit Wat Phu, the pre-Angkorian temple located on the foot of Champasak hill. Afternoon, we enjoy the ride on 3 of the islands including Done Daet to visit the Endangered Irrawady Dolphin, French death railways. Take the ferry to Don Som and ride on Don Khong. Overnight in 4 Thousand Islands.
Day 3: Xepian & Attapeu
After breakfast, we take the boat back to road to ride to Xe Pian Biodiversity Center. We ride uphill to visit Phou Asa. Another option is to take the Elephant uphill at USD10 per person. We have lunch at King Fisher Lodge (own account). Afternoon, we ride on the Ho Chi Minh trail near Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam border to Attapeu, this ride take us across the famous Boleavan Plateau. Overnight in Attapeu.
Day 4: Attapeu – Sekong
After breakfast, we begin our ride on another leg of Ho Chi Minh Trail. The last day will see historic war remnants and beautiful, unseen single track trails. A good nights rest will see us through to Sekong. Overnight in Sekong.
Day 5: Sekong – Pakse
After breakfast, we ride 50% on the dirt track. We stop for lunch in Paksong (own account). After lunch continue on the pave road to Pakse. Tour Ends.

This tour mostly follows mixed of dirt road, passing the countryside and the rice field, the jungle. The back road along the village is small but enjoyable for motorbike, less busy. A little bit sandy, muddy and potholes. |
